As U.S. citizens, we are called to exercise our right to vote. As Catholics, we should consider the teachings of the Church to help guide our voting decisions. Catholic voters may feel conflicted when faced with the various issues on their ballots. We encourage you to read and reflect on this letter written by Fr. Michael G. Ryan regarding the importance of forming a Catholic conscience in relation to voting.

We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern.”

Thanksgiving Meals

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference! We’re preparing to provide nutritious Thanksgiving dinners to our neighbors in need, but we can’t do it without your help!

Our goal is to provide 423 meals, and each meal costs $40. While we have some funds left from last year, we still need to raise $10,100 to make it happen this year.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Grab an envelope from the church chairs, write a check to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or add cash, and drop it in the collection basket.
  • Donations are needed by November 22 so we can purchase the meals on the 23rd.
  • Prefer to donate online? Visit pushpay.com/g/sjtbcc and select “Thanksgiving Meals.”

We also need volunteers to help distribute the meals on Saturday, November 23. Click through to sign up for a volunteer task.

Stay Connected with Our New Parish App!

We are excited to introduce a new way for St. John the Baptist parish members to stay connected with our community – the “Our Catholic Community” app! This app will keep you informed about parish events and activities, help you communicate with your parish groups, read the bulletin, and stay updated on upcoming events.

How to Download and Use the App:

  1. Download the App: Search for “Our Catholic Community” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Make sure to look for “Archdiocese of Seattle” in the title.
  2. Set Up Your Profile: Open the app and enter “St. John the Baptist” as the church name at the bottom of the screen. Look for our logo to confirm.
  3. Enable Notifications: Follow the prompt to “allow” notifications. Then, enter your phone number to create a profile. This connects to your existing profile in our church database.
  4. Explore: You’re in! Use the head silhouette icon on the upper right to access your profile. Navigate the app using the menu at the bottom.
