Volunteer for the Yard Sale
Looking to shake things up and do some good in our parish community? We’re gearing up for our annual yard sale and we need your help to make it a success!
You might be wondering, why a yard sale?
Well, it’s more than just clearing out closets and making a few bucks. What began as a fundraiser to lighten the financial load of our families with children in Catholic schools has expanded to support all areas of parish life.
PLUS, it’s a chance to involve the community beyond our parish. Anyone in the local community can give back by reusing and repurposing items that might otherwise end up in the trash, all while creating a fun shopping experience accessible to all budgets.
Yes, we need a lot of help to make this successful. Please consider signing up for the following positions:
Receivers (May 18 – June 16) accept donations and store them safely in the McMullen Center. Only accept items that are on the accepted list. Yes! I’ll be a Receiver
Presorters (up until June 10) will separate clothes into men’s/women’s/children’s, move items into their appropriate rooms as they open up, throw out unsaleable items, and identify high-value items to be stored securely and separately priced. Yes! I’ll be a Presorter
Sorters (after June 10) will do the same, plus set up rooms and group similar items. Think “thrift store” level organization. As we get to the week of the sale, we will price items: some will be part of a price list, and others will be priced separately. Yes! I’ll be a Sorter
Day of Sale workers will monitor the spaces, keeping them neat and organized and helping shoppers. Monitors will also keep an eye out for anyone attempting to hide items or walk out with items without paying. Yes! I’ll be a Day of Sale Helper
Cashiers will need to be vetted with a background check via Virtus.org, and will help customers, adding up the cost of their purchases and taking payments (cash only). Yes! I’ll be a Cashier and provide a background check
