The yearly registration deadline is September 30th for each school year's Confirmation preparation. Candidates registered after September 30th will be placed in the Year One Confirmation Preparation Program for the following school year.

To register for Year One, candidates need to submit the following items:

• Faith Formation Registration form, indicating they are registering for Confirmation Year One and their grade level faith formation.
• Candidate & Sponsor Information form
• Copy of the candidate's Baptismal certificate

Candidates are not fully registered until we have a copy on file. You can bring in a physical copy or email one to Peter Guthrie at the contact information below.

If the candidate was baptized at St. John:

• Indicate this on the Candidate & Sponsor Information form.

If the candidate was baptized elsewhere:

• Provide a scan, copy, or photo of the Baptismal certificate.
  • If you do not have a copy at home, contact the church where you were baptized, and they will send you one.

Note: Candidates who received their First Eucharist at St. John still need to provide a new copy of their Baptismal certificate.

In Year One, the main focus is building a strong relationship with your sponsor. Please all co-attendance session dates with your sponsor and complete the Sponsor's information on the Candidate & Sponsor Information form for full registration. If you can't find a sponsor for any reason, please get in touch with Peter Guthrie.

Requirements for Sponsors:

• Confirmation candidates must have a sponsor in place before registering for Year 1.
• Sponsors are required to attend all Year 1 Confirmation Prep meetings with their candidates.
• Local sponsors are encouraged.

Sponsor Qualifications:

• Sponsors must be confirmed Catholics who are practicing their faith.
• Sponsors must provide documentation of their own confirmation.
• Sponsors cannot be the candidate's parents.
• Students often choose sponsors who are siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents, cousins, teachers, coaches, friends' parents, youth ministers, or even friends.

Year 2 students still need to register! To be registered for Confirmation Year two, please complete the following forms and submit them by September 30:

• St. John Faith Formation Registration Form
• Confirmation Information Form

All candidates registered after September 30th will be placed in the Year two Confirmation preparation program for the following school year.

• Faith Formation Participation:
  Candidates must continue participating regularly in their age group’s faith formation program at St. John or an equivalent program at school (such as a Catholic school).
• Mass Attendance:
  Candidates must attend Mass weekly, either in person or online.
• Candidate Attendance Requirement:
  Candidates must attend all scheduled Confirmation Prep sessions
• Confirmation Retreat
  All candidates must attend the Year Two Confirmation retreat
• Sponsor Attendance Requirement:
  Sponsors must attend all scheduled co-attendance Confirmation Prep sessions

• Rehearsal Date:
  Date TBD by Archdiocese (information will be provided closer to the spring when available)
• Rehearsal Details:
  Plan an hour and a half for this rehearsal. Sponsors, or a parent standing in for the sponsor, must attend with the candidate.
