Ash Wednesday Services
Uncategorized
Begin Your Lenten Journey with Family 30 on Ash Wednesday
Lent is a sacred season of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to our faith. It begins with Ash Wednesday, a day when we are marked with ashes as a sign of repentance and humility before God. This year, we invite you to start your Lenten journey with Family 30 by attending one of our Ash Wednesday services at St. John the Baptist or Holy Spirit Parish.
Between our two parishes, we are offering six opportunities for you to receive ashes and enter this season of grace. Whether you prefer a morning service, an afternoon time to bring your family, or an evening gathering after work, there is a time that fits your schedule. Note that these services tend to be full, so be aware that you may be directed to overflow parking at the evening Masses.
Why Attend Ash Wednesday?
Ash Wednesday is more than just receiving ashes. It is a call to conversion, reminding us of our dependence on God and the invitation to grow in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The ashes on our foreheads are a visible sign of our faith, calling us to turn away from sin and embrace the Gospel.
By coming together as a community, we support one another in this journey of spiritual renewal. Whether you are a lifelong Catholic or have been away from the Church for a while, this is a beautiful moment to step back in, reconnect, and allow God to work in your life.
Ash Wednesday Service Times
We encourage you to choose a time that works best for you and your family:
📍 St. John the Baptist, Covington
| 9:00 AM | Mass for Ash Wednesday |
| 5:30 PM | Word & Ash |
| 7:00 PM | Mass for Ash Wednesday |
📍 Holy Spirit Parish, Kent
| 9:00 AM | Mass for Ash Wednesday |
| 6:00 PM | Mass for Ash Wednesday |
| 7:30 PM | Spanish Mass for Ash Wednesday |
Ashes will be distributed at each service, and all are welcome—parishioners, friends, neighbors, and anyone seeking a fresh start this Lent.
Make This Lent Meaningful
As we prepare our hearts for Easter, let’s begin this season together in prayer and reflection. Mark your calendar, invite a friend, and join us at one of our Ash Wednesday services. Let this be the start of a Lent filled with grace, growth, and deepened faith.
We look forward to seeing you there!
