The Guatemala Mission Group &
St. John the Baptist Church
…is excited to announce their 8th Trip to Union de las Aldeas Corpus Christi (Union of the Villages of the Body of Christ) in the region of San Marcos in the NW Highlands of Guatemala
Trip Focus: Continue the work of planning to install compostable latrines which will improve overall health for families and protect the ground water. At this point, there have been at least 100 families that expressed need for sanitation support. To facilitate this project, our mission team has been researching different organizations that provide composting latrines in Central America. The data we have collected shows an average cost of $500 US dollars per latrine. Additional implementation and training for the receiving families may increase the cost to $800. During our visit to Guatemala in July 2023, we plan to meet with our companion parish leaders and the community to discuss how we can support them to move forward with this sanitation project.
